Kaleidoscopes

Every year the Berea Arts Fest hosts a handful of projects for the little ones.  Here are the projects for the 25th annual Berea Arts Fest!  Stop out for a make and take project complimentary of the B.A.F.

Project 1:
Kaleidoscopes – ages 8 and up (younger with help). Make your own kaleidoscope with a cardboard tube, mirror paper and some plastic gems.

Project 2:
Maracas – ages 3 and up.
With a couple of spoons and a plastic egg, you can create your own maracas and join in on the celebration of the 25th Berea Arts Fest.

Project 3:
Tambourines ages 5 and up (younger with help)
Two paper plates and a handful of jingle bells gives you a tambourine to help you keep the beat. Add some glitter and your own style and you have a one of a kind music maker!

Project 4:
Sparkling lanterns ages 8 and up (younger with help)
Make your own hanging lantern with a plastic jar, a battery-powered tea light and your imagination.

67 Notarianni Nancy 4Nancy Notarianni is a watercolorist, graphic designer and watercolor painting instructor living in the Middleburg Heights/Berea, Ohio area. Her decades of experience in graphic design are rooted in a BFA in advertising & fashion illustration from the University of Kansas. She enjoys teaching watercolor in Middleburg Heights at the Community Center and in Independence, Ohio – for the Independence Art Guild. Nancy has also been invited to many of the Cuyahoga County, Ohio branch libraries (Parma South, Bedford, Olmsted Falls, Mayfield to name a few) to give watercolor programs.

One of Nancy’s paintings has been accepted into the

2013 Ohio Watercolor Society Annual Show.

She has exhibited in many juried shows throughout Northeast Ohio. Nancy is also serves as newsletter editor for the Ohio Watercolor Society. In 2009 and in 2012, Nancy attended painting workshops with Charles Reid,

one of the foremost watercolorists of today.

Nancy describes her affinity to watercolor by saying that it is her “…favorite medium because of the transparent quality and the unpredictability of the combination of water and paint.”

Currently, she is art director and web administrator for City Visitor Communications. She handles ad design, layout and production of all quarterly and annual publications that entice visitors to Northeast Ohio, Charlotte, NC and Richmond, Virginia. As web administrator for City Visitor, she maintains cityvisitor.com, carolinavisitor.com and virginiavisitor.info websites.

Anthony Kleem grew up in a small college town in Ohio, living with his parents and seven siblings.  Anthony’s parents encouraged his enthusiasm for the arts.  Anthony attended the University of Akron and received his Masters in Education.  He resides in Berea, Ohio with his wife, Mary, and their five children.  New England, Eastern Pennsylvania and the rural settings of the Midwest remain the inspiration of many of Kleem’s paintings.


    “My work method is intricate, yet simple.  I like my paintings to be well balanced with structures, patterns and colors.  In them I try to express my impressions of a bygone era of wholesomeness, warmth, and old-fashioned values.  My love for the American flag is evident; I usually have Old Glory somewhere in my paintings.”
